Meet The Speaker
Piper Dobner is a naturopathic doctor, scientist, and educator specializing in microbiome restoration and immune system modulation.
As Senior Manager of Science and Education at SFI Health, she develops practitioner education, supports microbiome and cognitive health research, and speaks internationally on the gut-brain axis. She is also the founder of Biome Basics, where she provides personalized care through fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), helminthic counseling, and naturopathic support.
With a background in both clinical practice and industry innovation, Dr. Piper is passionate about restoring microbial ecosystems—both within the human body and across healthcare systems—and advocates for medical autonomy, ecological thinking, and patient empowerment.
Abstract
The ReWilded Gut: Microbiome Interventions for Immune Resilience
From eradication to ecological restoration. Drawing on the naturopathic principle that the terrain, not the germ, determines the course of illness, Dr. Piper Dobner explores how the microbiome shapes the development and resilience of the immune system from infancy through chronic disease.
This talk highlights the deep interconnectedness between microbial diversity, immune modulation, and neurologic health. Research on gnotobiotic mice, PTLDS microbiome data, and case reflections from Dr. Dobner’s clinical work with FMT and helminthic therapy offer insight into how terrain restoration can reawaken resilience. The talk expands into mitochondrial dysfunction, chronic fatigue, neuroimmune dysregulation, and the relevance of ancient co-evolved organisms like helminths.
Our bodies, like our soils, need rewilding. Restoration of microbial diversity is not just a therapeutic intervention—it is a call to reconnect with the ecosystems we are part of and remember to nurture them as well.
