Meet The Speaker
Physician, educator, and clinical leader with deep experience in pediatrics, neurodevelopmental care, and professional training. Dr. Mumper brings decades of service across clinical practice, academic medicine, and national and international organizations—grounded in evidence-based, patient-centered decision-making.
Dr. Mumper received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, completed an internship at the University of Massachusetts, and completed pediatric residency training at the University of Virginia, where she served as Chief Resident. She is the founder of Advocates for Families, a clinical practice focused on caring for children with autism and other neurodevelopmental challenges. Her professional experience includes five years in pediatric practice; more than a decade as Director of Pediatric Education within a Family Practice Residency Program; 16 years on the clinical faculty at the University of Virginia; and five years as Medical Director of the Autism Research Institute. She currently serves on the faculty of MAPS (Medical Academy for Pediatric Special Needs) and is certified by the Institute of Functional Medicine, where she developed the organization’s first advanced clinical training in pediatrics. She is also a Senior Fellow in Pediatrics at the Independent Medical Alliance.
Dr. Mumper has been recognized as a Miracle Maker in Central Virginia, named Woman of the Year in Health and Sciences by the YWCA, and honored with multiple Inspiring Change Awards from the MINDD Foundation in Australia. In 2024, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Front-Line COVID Critical Care Alliance. Dr. Mumper has authored and contributed to professional publications, including chapters on allergy, immunology, and behavioral and developmental pediatrics, as well as an eBook on COVID in children. Her book Kids and COVID: Costly Mistakes That Must Never Happen Again was published in May 2025. She is committed to transparent, evidence-informed collaboration in service of children’s health and the public interest.
